Products and Services
Boston Microsystems business model is to partner with a select number of industrial OEM, reseller, and other partners who would either resell BMS components and subsystems into their own products. Among the ways we have served our industrial, government and academic customers include:
* Manufacture and supply of MEMS components
* Development and supply of customer specific detection subsystems
* Development and supply of detection instruments
We also manufacture and sell both MEMS components and development systems to industry, government, and academic customers. Below are the products and services we offer. Feel free to contact us at busdev@bostonms.com for more information.
PicoSensor Development System
BMS can supply a development system for evaluation of the performance of PicoSensor technology for a specific application, analyte, and/or operating environment. A system typically includes the detector hardware, sampling system, control software and CPU. Because PicoSensor® chemoselective coatings are selected and optimized for the target analyte(s) and pattern recognition algorithms trained to identify them, development system specifications are developed in collaboration with BMS personnel.
Preconcentrators
BMS Preconcentrators are MEMS-based "sponges" that collect and concentrate analytes from the air and then "flash" them off, magnifying analyte concentrations by as much as 100x. They consist of flow-through membranes with integrated heaters and temperature sensors, and can be heated above 400C in tens of milliseconds while consuming only ~100mW. BMS Preconcentrators can be customized for specific analytes or classes of analytes. They work with BMS' PicoSensor detector arrays and can be packaged for use with third party analytical instruments.
Harsh Environment/High Temperature Sensors
Unlike other MEMS sensors, BMS silicon carbide-based sensors have been demonstrated to work reliably at temperatures exceeding 500C for extended periods of operation. This makes the PicoSensor an ideal choice for high temperature and harsh environment sensor applications, including conditions experienced in combustion and emission control systems. Packaged sensors for high-temperature use can be provided as part of a development system.
Silicon Carbide Foundry Services
BMS uses a combination of in-house and third-party foundry services to manufacture silicon carbide MEMS devices. To meet our own and our customers cost and schedule constraints, BMS can make wafer space available to third parties to manufacture their designs on a planned run. This work does need to be closely coordinated with BMS engineering.
MEMS Control Electronics
BMS electronics used for control and readout of PicoSensor subsystems are available and may be customized for third party MEMS and detection systems.
